About this quiz
Follow the instructions in the exercise below to test your understanding of simple clause patterns. This exercise is concerned mainly with identifying subjects, verbs and adverbials in subject-verb-obligatory adverbial (SVA) patterns.

This simple quiz requires the quiz taker to identify the grammatical features of subject - verb - obligatory adverbial patterns (subjects, verbs and obligatory adverbials) in four sentences taken from authentic texts:
1. Most concerts last at least an hour.
2. Its multiple sensory pores look like black dots.
3. SAD [...] often occurs in the autumn and winter.
4. Sometimes it looks round, sometimes like an egg.
Once the quiz is completed a score and a timestamp are given. Feedback is immediately available for every correct answer.
