Follow the instructions in the exercise below to test your understanding of simple clause patterns. This exercise is concerned with identifying subjects, verbs and objects in subject - verb - object (SVOd ) patterns.

4. Sometimes the location of the pain gives a clue.

6. And many gardeners do their own composting at home.
7. The brain reorganises and recharges itself during sleep.
8. Calendars measure longer intervals, like days, months and years.
